We use the information that you have given us in order to represent you as a client of our firm. We may share this information with auditors and/or the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to ensure our organisation is compliant with the SRA’s Code of Conduct, Standards and Regulations.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information is your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting us via the contact details noted above.
If we have collected your personal data during the process of representing you with your legal matter we will ask your consent to share that data with the various agencies we may have to deal with whilst working on your matter, such as Her Majesty’s Court and Tribunal Services, the Home Office, the Department of Work and Pensions, Local Authorities, Police, and other bodies. We will never share your information with these agencies or any other third party without your express consent.
How we store your personal information?
Your information is securely stored. We keep our client’s personal information and case files (including records of all aspects of their case) for 6 years. These will be kept electronically on our file management system, and as hard paper copies.
We will then dispose of these records securely. Information kept from non-clients, where for example, only an enquiry has been made and a case file has not been opened, will be kept electronically for 6 years and deleted.
Any other personal data collected (with your consent and within the scenarios outlined above in this document) will be kept until we become aware it is no longer valid, or you ask us to delete it.
Your data protection rights
Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
